With the 3-D the focus and emphasis is completely different. The media of the glass itself leads me. Sometimes it is the shape of the pieces and the interaction of the colors, which unfold beyond what I plan. I like the spontaneous discovery of color and shape and what it leads to.

It began with the order for the mushroom lamp. I made the mold for the lamp to get the right shape. I was very happy with the results, and really liked the organic undulating texture, although it was very subtle in places. I began to become intrigued with the process and pushing the parameters. Then came the Firehorse, and I realized there were several learning curves with the structural strength and integrity of the sculptures. This took time and experimentation, and a lot of patience.
